Letter: City delays Biltmore, payroll solutionsThe Coral Gables Citizens Political Action Committee is concerned about the marathon discussions the City is having with the operators of the Biltmore Hotel, the failure of the hotel to pay rent, the refusal of the hotel operators to provide financial information when they are seeking rent concessions and resulting loss of revenue. Comments
I recommend a solicitation, I'm sure Wyndham or the Marriot would be interested.
The Wyndham Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, the Marriot Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, how about the Biltmore Sonesta Hotel In Coral Gables all represent lots of $$$$$

Meaningful pension reform will not come by cowering to the fickle whims and wishes of Mr. Damien and his PAC/Blue Ribbon Committee or whatever they call themselves now. The fact is their foundation is built on popsicle sticks. They own the ultimate catbird seat. They can push the commissioners and manager to do whatever they want, and then blame them for the results.
No,...meaningful reform will only come by a true partnership and a trusting dialogue with all three city unions. The adversarial position the city is currently taking will not solve problems, but only create new ones.

To those that suck our monies in salaries and pensions; especially those that are in the Fire Dept., we simply do not have the funds nor are we citizens going to accept ever increasing taxes and fees to get nothing in return other than to make sure that Joe Blow Fire Chief gets his 140% pension check every month.
Its just like having a Lear Jet, we cannot even afford the fuel costs or the upkeep of a platinum expense with a dwindling economy and lost revenues HERE IS THE SIMPLE ANSWER......KEEP THE POLICE....OUTSOURCE THE FIRE TO MIAMI DADE COUNTY.......OUTSOURCE ZONING AND CONSIDER OUTSOURCING EVEN GARBAGE Its simple, its logical, its neccesary and its OVERDUE lets ditch the frills!!! People like Budget Watcher think they have it all figured out. That is until the residents don't have anyone to call when- Their garbage isn't picked up on time, when they think it should be and in the manner they think it should be,... when they don't get the 2 minute response to car accidents, heart attacks and other emergencies that involve their own family members,... When their is no one to call when their sewer lines are backed up and the local plumber wants thousands of dollars just to show up.
The answers aren't as simple as you think they are. People like you will be no where to be found when these services are no longer available, well after this recession is over. I doubt you will have the time to pen mindless drivel like this... if you are a city resident, which i doubt you are, you will be the first in line complaining how much taxes you pay, and where are the services to show for it.

"Their garbage isn't picked up on time, when they think it should be and in the manner they think it should be,... when they don't get the 2 minute response to car accidents, heart attacks and other emergencies that involve their own family members,.."So Says "Pension Reform"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I say you are misguided as the rest of this county can count on short responses, timely garbage pickup and have zero complaints and.....their taxes havent't gone up like us here in the Gables...in short......you are dead wrong I very much live in the Gables and have the ability to analyze and gauge the corruption and archaic pension systems in this City where we cannot afford it any longer. This city is not for you as a well paid and ridiculously funded pensioner and overtime bloodsucker.....its meant for us, the hardworking taxpayers and residents who want a fair and just system of government that wont bankrupt us.
